This may have been reported last month. An interesting recruit to UKIP's ranks: "34 year old mother of one, Angharad Yeo, is one of the latest in a growing number of defections to UKIP from the three parties in Westminster. Her mother Harriet Yeo is Chair of Labour NEC.
Angharad Yeo, a long term Labour supporter and campaigner who helped the party in elections since the age of 17, came to the conclusion after the recent Police Commissioner vote that UKIP better represented her views.
"The main parties are simply not listening when it comes to matters such as immigration. It may be somewhat a taboo subject but it is vital that we talk about it. It is especially valid in Ashford which has suffered from a huge influx of migrants as one of the first ports of call in the UK.
"My daughter attends school in Ashford and I have benefited from maternity and healthcare in South Ashford. I have seen for myself the strain put on local services by the swelling population. It is not a question of race or creed, but of numbers. I am of Saudi origin, and it infuriates me when people paint those of us who believe immigration must be better controlled as in some way xenophobic."nigelfaragemep.co.uk/pages/posts/daughter-of-labour-chairman-joins-ukip-238.phpwww.bloggers4ukip.org.uk/2013/02/labour-chairs-daughter-joins-ukip.htmlAnd she has a stonking leaflet for her County Council candidacy - or will have once I get the imprint details!

I believe this is a double bluff by John Loony - by announcing this on 1st April (and drawing attention to that date) he is trying to trick people into believing that this is an April fools joke, but the real April fools joke is the suggestion that this announcement is an april fools joke. In other words John really has joined the Conservative party

Well, on the presumption this isn't some massive bluff and you have joined the Tory Party, welcome! As soon as Kris changes your colours, you can come on our members' forum. And when you see what a wretched hive of scum and villainy it is, no doubt you'll defect straight back.

I would be interested to know what caused John's break with Loonyism - and are you going to be changing your (online) name as well??

.......Oh God, you really have, haven't you? Er, yes. I said so, didn't I? I announced it just after midnight on Monday. Some people seem to be a bit slow on the uptake. I've had much more response on Twitter today than I did yesterday. I can't think why... perhaps because it was a bank holiday yesterday.

So either you have defected, but you chose the wrong day to announce it: or you haven't, and are now just keeping up pretending. I would like to read a fair few hundred words justifying your decision....

I would be interested to know what caused John's break with Loonyism?? The main reason is because essentially I'm not a floating voter any more (as i have been for most of the last 20 years or so). I can't foresee circumstances in which I might want to vote Labour again. Labour governments are always voted in by empty minds and voted out by empty pockets. It's a positive reason, in the sense that I left the OMRLP because I wanted to join the Conservative Party; I didn't otherwise fall out with any of my erstwhile Loony colleagues in terms of personality clashes or anything.

Will John be standing in 2014 under his new colours? I doubt it. I have no particular ambition to be a councillor, but I may answer the call if I am asked to stand as candidate for somewhere like Bensham Manor or West Thornton or something.
