Fran Oborski has defected from the Liberal Party to the Liberal Democrats. She was very unhappy with the Liberal Party and UKIP deal in the South West. I think most people found that very strange, tbh.

She was only just re-elected as a Liberal, on 7 May.

Did she not have a problem with the national deal with the RMT, Communist Party and other associated nutbags in 2009? How liberal of her.

I'd suggest that you are being generous when you say 'a few'.

Well it may also be generous to say that there are a few in the Conservative party who are basically right wing racist nutters but standing as conservatives .

It is true to say a lot of converts to the lib dems from 2005 were socialists. The liberals have always seemed to be a mix of lefty liberals and hippy socialists, I have often wondered why they were so against the merger with the SDP. Oh Stuart , stop being so thin skinned , it is true to say that a number of Conservatives have always had more in common with the BNP and other right wing organisations tan those in the centre of British politics .

And just who is in The Centre of British Politics then? And who is to be the arbiter of what that phrase means? I feel the present Conservative Party (of which I am not a fan) is about the centre in many respects, and that is a partial and contributory reason for their recent success. The centre is NOT progressive most of the time and does not read the Guardian, eat hummus or wear sandals. It is Entertaining to 'Thank God they're normal, they're normal, they're normal!!!

I've met them both several times, quite moderate IMHO. Mersey is so far left that Roy Jenkins and Gaitskill would have been considered horrible righties by him, We must appear to be close to Franco in his eyes Franco? Far too moderate. At least Mussolini. Actually Roy Jenkins was the best home secretary we have ever had.

I'll go with Jix or James Chuter Ede. I'm surprised you didn't choose Sidmouth, or Maxwell Fyfe. I nearly did say Sidmouth, just for efficiency! He was far better at that role than being PM. Not keen on the Six Acts though. Mixed views on Maxwell-Fyfe.

For many people of Turkish, Greek, Arab or Israeli origin, it's perfectly normal to eat hummus. Originally I read that as humans.
