Referred on ConservativeHome, on Ribble Valley DC two councillors have joined the Conservative group. Ruth Hargreaves (Edisford and Low Moor) from the Liberal Democrats, Jim Rogerson (Alston and Hothersall) from the Independents.

Matthew Ellery UKIP councillor on Basingstoke/Deane DC to Independent following arrest for allegations of theft .
The strange thing is that the thefts are alleged to have taken place from an antiques centre run by his father Alan Stone , local UKIP Party chairman and prospective UKIP GE candidate .

Three of the five UKIP Cllrs (and the local party chairman) on Newcastle Borough Council go Independent. Derek Huckfield (Knutton & Silverdale-group leader and County Cllr), Eileen Braithwaite (Silverdale & Park Site) and David Woolley (Wolstanton) join the three recent Labour-to-Independent defectors.

Another Newcastle defection! Paul Waring (Newchapel) who was a Labour to Independent defector a couple of weeks ago has joined the Conservative group.

And another de-selection related defection. On a technical point can you "defect" to yourself? Given that he has moved to a party that he has set up himself and which didn't exist before. I note that the Tory leader on Notts county council is Cllr Cutts.  |

odd, considering the rest of the respect councillors quit and formed the Bradford Independent Group though (and appear to be pretty cosy with Labour)
