The guy in Rochdale was elected as a Lib Dem. Ah. I can readily imagine the circumstances whereby he was elected Chairman of the Association, then...

He's due for re-election in 2014 and his chances of holding on as a Conservative candidate were probably close to zero. I'm sure that had nothing to do with his latest move though

It was a baffling decision, given their previously stated views, by both Councillors Sharif and Wazir to defect from the Lib Dems to the Conservatives in Milkstone and Deeplish (as Mohammed Sharif discovered to his cost) and seemed predicated on the belief that they could carry a community with them. The Conservatives had already replaced the once powerful Lib Dems in second place in the ward due to the massive swing to Labour in 2011. Whilst the Conservatives polled well, they were well beaten in 2012 and that has obviously helped the major rethink on the part of the Councillor Wazir. In the end though, this story is more to do with the absolute implosion of the once-powerful Rochdale Liberal Democrat machine that has left many political observers stunned.

I'm honestly not sure what proportion of activists are Eurosceptics, because so few of us actually care about it to any significant degree. So you don't care about the fact that the majority of our laws and guidelines derive from an unelected Commission , and that any significant changes to the multi-national capitalist domination are impossible whilst we remain in the EU? No wonder your support base feels the party is increasingly irelevant to their concerns...

Something needs to be done about the quote facility on here. It doesn't work properly if you quote someone who has quoted someone else

If you just press quote and add the comments below it is fine (see above).

This is what I do but I have found my posts rendered incorrectl. I guess it is when you start editing out part of the post you are quoting that you geet into difficulty. This does seem to happen more since the upgrade for some reason

When posting, you should see two buttons below the text window. If you press the one marked 'Visual', you get a preview of your post. I don't know if others have already noticed this, but I only just found that out so I thought it might be worth a mention.
