The point is surely that the precise nature of that "reality" is contested here. Of course "biological sex is a thing", as trans-sceptic types constantly tell us - the question is whether it is the *only* thing. I don't think it's a matter of being a skeptic or not. I guess if pushed I'm a skeptic in the sense I do not believe there is medical disease of being "born in the wrong body". But I don't think of it in those terms, rather it is a matter of respecting one's right to do what they want with ones own body and being addressed accordingly. It's no skin off my back to call a biological man a woman if they want. I just see that as politeness. Obviously you get on the other side outlandish views like it is transphobic for lesbians to avoid sleeping with biological men or that it is fair for biological men to compete in woman's sport. There is a sensible path down the middle as with most issues.

The reality is a woman cannot have a penis. You've checked them all have you? Many transwomen have penises. And many other women have utter penises:

He's showing as independent on the council website... so either not updated, or he's changed his mind.

Tim Transwomen are not actually women That is why they are called Transwomen and not women What next, Ciswomen aren't women? They're both women, just different subsets.

Can we please return to the subject title of this thread?
In any case Britain's electors have more important things to worry about at the moment!

Of course, we can. But the subject came up with reference to a former Labour Councillor, an actual woman. And I am not going to allow any utter bollocks to go unchallenged in this or in any other thread. Gravity is 9.81m/s/s. Biological males are men. The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. Opinions are like arseholes, everyone is entitled to one but they don't all bear close scrutiny All of those examples are the same, just not the way you think they are...

Even if true, this is not the be all and end all. That's what this whole often more heat than light "debate" is about.

To echo greenhert can’t one of you who wishes to continue obsessing over this start a dedicated thread and let this one get back on message ( BossMan)?

I do believe that there is already a thread in the General Discussion board for such matters, any further digression of that nature can go there. If after this post the digression continues, it will be mercilessly deleted.

An update:As of when I type this I had found several posts that were blatantly off topic despite the fact that I had said I would delete any digression. As such those posts have been deleted, not moved, deleted. Topic drift may often be inevitable from time to time, but there's a difference between that and taking the piss. Any further offences after this point will be met (initially) with PMs, and may escalate to suspensions if need be.

Aah, he's said hello and waved goodbye. That's the problem with the LibDem's franchising council candidatures. No penalty clauses.
