Genuinely can't believe it. If you asked me who would defect to the Tories in Leicester I'd have put him close to bottom of that list

Barnsley, Kingstone (2023). Kevin Williams, Labour to Conservative. He's certainly shown as that on the website. We know that these aren't always correct, and I can trace no statement from him. Was there another source? Has this one been established either way?

Doesn't this particular bug ever switch people the other way?

I think we've had LibDem to Labour (non) switches before now.

A deselection caused this, presumably?

Broxbourne, Cheshunt South & Theobalds (2024). Carol Crump, Conservative (unaligned) to Conservative. Burnley, Hapton with Park (2023). Peter Gill, Conservative to Independent. Havering, Rainham & Wennington. Sarah Edwards, Conservative to Havering Residents Association. Havering, Rainham & Wennington. Jacqueline McArdle, Conservative to Havering Residents Association. Havering, Rainham & Wennington. Sue Ospreay, Conservative to Havering Residents Association. www.romfordrecorder.co.uk/news/local-council/rainham-wennington-councillors-join-hra-9258604Might be something to do with the controversial Cllr Alan Hosker, who is also a Hapton with Park councillor. Burnley Tories is very split between the old guard Tories who represent the wards on the rural fringe like Cliviger, while the Tories in old pit areas like Hapton are from a markedly different class background. Heard this causes some disagreements within the fold occasionally.

Is it Burnley where there is a really posh old school Conservative called something like Theophania ffortescue-Psmythe?

No - It is Cosima Towneley, daughter of Sir Simon and Lady Mary Towneley, present Mayor of Burnley. The noble Towneleys have roots that go back before the Domesday Book in the Burnley area; her uncle was the late Peregrine Worsthorne. She is a really posh old school Tory though.

A deselection caused this, presumably? no not at all. Unless he's fallen out with Vaz I'd have said deselection is very unlikely.
