Happened today. The PollingStations have closed recently. Austrian NewsPapers reported boring campaigns with harmless slogans (incredible - in B&H!). If the HDZ-incumbent won't be reelected, he could challenge the election and push BiH into a new constitutional crisis, though.

As in other Balkanic countries, the procedure of counting: secretly, somewhen the Electoral Commission announces results: seems to be made to enable ConspiracyTheories as much as possible.
Clear is, that SDA defended the Bosniac presidentship, while HDZ lost the Croatian one (very clearly; nontheless, this cold cause troubles - s.above). From Rep.Srbska mixed "results" have been reported.

The site of the Elec.Comm. broke down... But SDA and Dodik are apparently reelected, whereas HDZ's Covic was deelected.

They stopped counting. With ~45% done, the SDA-candidate is 5% ahead of the SocialDemocrat. Serbs: Dodik (NewSocialDem., a movement expelled from SI) is clearly stronger than the opponent from the right parties (but as so often in E&SE-Europe these are rather more moderate and proWestern, while Dodik is proPutin). At the Croatians the SocialDemocrat, who was 2006 and 2010 elected - and not by many Croats, but mostly by Bosniaks voting in the Croatian class - won (certainly once again with mainly Muslimic support).

Why the Croats won't be pleased by "their" new president is shown on these Maps from 2010: Kristo (HDZ, darkblue) vs. Komsic (exSocialDemocrat, lightred): % won by Komsic:

Mayors (elected via FPTP): 2016: 2020: To be honest: I have no idea, where certain parties are located ideologically, let alone, who has all in all won&lost...

Left-"liberal" journalists in Austria celebrate once more - but this can be heard quite every time without anything changing realiter -, that the main parties, which are federally in government and are the heirs of the 1990ies' nationalism (SDA, HDZ and SNSD [presently not in the cabinet]), have lost, at least in the cities: SDA most districts of Sarajevo, SNSD the Serbian capital BanjaLuka (first time).

Mostar - being split quite evenly between Croats/Catholics and Bosniaks/Muslims - held today after a long time its postponed election. No idea, whether these numbers at 22.00 (MET) are final: So Muslimic bloc 13.992, Croatian parties 13.493, supranational SDP+ 3.972, Serbian party 1.291, others 1.354.

After the defeats of the nationalistic parties SDA & SNSD in the other cities (but perhaps more out of unhappiness with the federal government's reaction to Corona) some expected the same for Mostar. But as the city is ethnically roughly 50%:50% with lots of bad blood from the past the OutCome is indeed not surprising. No idea, how it will continue. The city has not had local elections for 12 years.

There has been a revival of interest in Islam but the local variant is very much mystical Sufism, not politicised.

Very surprising, as once those ex-Bogumils were indeed vigorous Muslims (and, by the way, more supportive of Hitler than the Croats, who were despised by him...), but more in a political than in a pious sense.

I hope so too but I'm not holding my breath...I agree Mostar is one of the most charming places on earth, and on both sides of the river. I also agree about the role of Sufism in the local variant of Islam , but the implication that local Islam cannot be politicised may sadly be just a little optimistic.

The 3 presidents will alltogether be SocialDemocrats. But the Serbian woMan is from Dodik's party, so not very moderate. And the "Croatian" member was once more elected mostly by Bosniaks, what will not decrease the tensions (unless that legal loopHole will be closed). In the Bosniak&Croatian parliament the less moderate SDA (of the Izetbegovics) achieved 46% (but with very little counted).

Local elections not only in Brazil, but also in another B-country. Unfortunately i have looked for hours at their media and their EC seems to have not really released any data.

No huge shifts, but generally the nationalists (SDA, SNSD) have gained ground: In the camp of Serbian nationalists SDS lost, mostly to SNSD. The HDZ-BiH lost several mayoralities - caused by a declining Croatian population?

As Bosnian politics is quite complex; who are the main parties for each ethnic group?
