After a super-swift investigation and a faultless analysis of the very obvious facts by the the extremely efficient police force and legal services in Norfolk, the sensible early posts on this thread are fully vindicated.
It was very sad. It was a tradegy. It was suicide. Apart from not being so and being quite different.
The system works very well and in a very brief 12 years the truth was swiftly unearthed. Well done everybody.

The Guardian article from 2013 - the Guardian being one of the few publications who make it crystal clear when you're reading an old story.

I presume that it’s because the report of the inquest in September 2013 was not previously mentioned in this thread, after the other posts about the original incident in December 2012.

I came across an old thread that had petered out with a very clearly misleading portrayal of events. I did a very swift search to confirm my suspicions.

Yes, this at least shows the perils of starting a thread about this sort of incident before even the rudimentary facts are in.
I do recall the resulting byelection, partly because the circumstances of what had actually happened were well known by then (even if all the details were not)
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Tories lost it on a massive swing.

Yeah - they came 4th and last in the by-election...

Would be helpful if the title of this thread could be suffixed ‘2012’, to avoid confusion with current Council Leader and resulting alarm.
