I've been having a think about alternative ways to display the information in the LEAP database and try and bring it all together. Here's a report I've put together on Wealden council - which happened to be at the top of my queue at the moment - showing all the results from that council from 2003 to date, including all the by-elections and suchlike. It took a while to put together but I should be able to semi-automate it, given a bit of time to get the code right. I'd be grateful for feedback on whether this sort of thing is worthwhile and (if so) what could be improved. www.andrewteale.me.uk/misc/wealden.pdf

The big advance on what is currently available seems to me the incorporation of all the by-election data within the big picture and we all know by now you don't have to go back very far to find that local authorities don't seem to archive by-election data properly even when they archive the mainstream elections- what a pity we don't have something like this for the last century. It really does look as though we could have a resource for this century at least which is truly comprehensive, and that is great. Maybe the actual presentation looks a tad spartan compared with what we are used to getting from you, but guess this is just because its a work in progress- time to jazz it up when you're sure the basics are right?

It's definitely useful, particularly for those who are only interested in one particular authority. It might also be worth including the maps coloured in for each ordinary election - the blank map helps, but if you don't know which ward is for which area you're still likely to be doing a fair bit of flicking back and forth.
