Maybe no one had any desire to rig the election, but the the technical issues took a few days to work through to ensure the correct ie honest result More likely is that the 'technical issues' to be sorted out included making sure who actually won doesn't matter ....

Bad news for Assad. I hope the new Egyptian president focuses on Syria rather than Israel. The President will not have any powers or responsibilities for foreign policy. These issues are reserved for the military.
