Does anyone know of anywhere I could get hold of the entire run of results for the elections to Merseyside County Council (including by-elections) from 1974-1986? Short of visiting the library of course...

Short of visiting the library of course... No by-elections mentioned but have a look through these: www.electionscentre.co.uk/?page_id=3686The disappearance of a candidate's name and its replacement by a new one between elections could indicate a by-election might have taken place at some point.

Collected results for all county councils (England & Wales) for this period and even pestered the authorities for the by election results occurring between main elections). At the time I just noted the surname of candidates. Descripton of 'Alliance' candidates was as given to me. SDP/Lib suggesting the candidate was from the SDP Party. Lib/SDP the Liberal party
