I will shortly add the basic details for another six by-elections (seven seats) to conclude the business for October. I have a few more days of respite before taking back my usual role as my wife's carer next week and I am going away for the weekend on other family business so will try to have posted these before I go and will deal with complaints and corrections on my return. I will remind everyone that I had said I would see October through and then pass the baton to another willing volunteer for November and beyond.. I know our esteemed administrator has offered to take it on himself if nobody else comes to the fore so that remains the default option, but we all know how busy he is and I feel this is an ideal opportunity for somebody else to use it as a learning opportunity for a few months- the basis on which I have undertaken it.

I would be surprised if this part of town has ever preferred the Conservatives. Only two things of any interest to me in the ward. One is Loughborough Central station which is the start of the Great Central Railway, a truly beautiful heritage railway line with steam and diesel trains. I've been on it many times and it's wonderful for a fun day-out - I've never heard anyone say a bad word about it and I would highly recommend visiting/going. The other more personal interest is that the ward apparently includes the ground of Loughborough Carillon cricket club (named after the famous war memorial but about a mile away from it), which one of my good friends at Uni was a member of. I used to go with him from time to time in the summer, despite not having any real interest in cricket. However, it was quite useful as it allowed me to forget for a few hours some of the pressures of University life which are inevitably around at that time of year.

He is performing a tedious task for the benefit of the rest of us under difficult circumstances.

Nice of people to rush to my defence but I am not at all offended by the query from Catholicleft who reasonably enough wanted to know which of my Tories was actually Labour, and indeed I am asking for corrections all the time. Had he said what are you playing at you silly old git, then he would merely have been saying what I said to myself when I saw what I had done..

You are right, I was merely asking a question, which you have kindly answered. Thank you.
