Compared to May 2012, Labour +11.5%, Lib Dem -5.4%, Conservative -2.6% and no UKIP -3.5% Bigger change from say 2011, Labour +27.4%, Conservative -22.1%, Lib Dem -5.2%. The Conservative vote in Stratford-upon-Avon, Shipton was 431 not the 331 reported last night. This means the by-election shares were Labour 37.9%, Lib Dem 35.5% and Conservative 26.6%. Compared to May 2012, Labour +9.0%, Conservative +2.3%, Lib Dems -7.8%, no UKIP so -3.5%. Bigger change from say 2011, Labour +24.9%, Conservative -17.3%, Lib Dems -7.6%. This change also affects the prediction competition.

Yes, I was caught out by Porthcawl. There is absolutely nothing on the Bridgend website. I will produce a quick report tomorrow.

Here is some background to the by-election in the West Central ward of Porthcawl Town Council in the Borough of Bridgend.
Porthcawl Town Council comprises 19 members, elected from five wards as follows – East Central (4), Newton (4), Nottage (4), Rest Bay (3) and West Central (4).
The town council wards are coterminous with the Bridgend Borough wards of the same name.
The Porthcawl town council strengths were:
Elections on 1 May 2008: Con 10, Lib Dem 7, Lab 2 Elections on 3 May 2012: Con 6, Lab 6, Independent 4, Lib Dem 3
The current town mayor is Labour and the deputy mayor is Lib Dem.
The result in West Central ward on 1 May 2008 was: Con 681/662/585/559, Lab 341/308 Elected: Con 4
The result in West Central ward on 3 May 2012 was: Independent 789, Lab 377/325, Con 367/325/312/283 Elected: Independent 1, Lab 1, Con 2 The final seat was decided on the toss of a coin.
The by-election in West Central ward on 29 November was caused by the resignation of Gaynor Newton-Williams (Con). The result was Independent 306, Con 138, Lab 72 – Independent gain from Conservative.
The new council is: Lab 6, Con 5, Independent 5, Lib Dem 3
The results in the Porthcawl West Central ward of Bridgend Borough Council were as follows:
1 May 2008 – Con 584, Lab 293, Lib Dem 238
3 May 2012 – Independent 659, Lab 224, Con 220 - Independent gain from Conservative
