It might be noted that there are two Buenos Aires... the province and the Capital... Above refers to the province.. the Capital on the other hand is massively anti-Kirchnerista. Its also interesting to note that Cristina is not running in her home province of Santa Cruz where the Kirchner name has become decidedly tarnished in recent times. Finally one should also note that polls is Argentina are even more unreliable than those in the UK... The senate is renewed in thirds every two years but for six year terms. The Kirchnerite forces will be coming down (probably heavily) from their 2011 highs in this election. The current breakdown is here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_SenateAs can be noted the Macri coalition has only a measly haul of seats so the goal here will be to make quite a bit of headway in whittling down the residual FPV dominance.

Former President Christina Kirchner is running with an electoral coaltion called Frente para la Victoria Unidad Ciudadana. Like all political vampires, death is never the end.

It's also impressive given the state of the economy, which is in recession (or close to it). The government have been successful in claiming that the current problems are the hangover from the inflationary, big-spending policies of its predecessor. Macri looks a good bet for re-election in 2019. I imagine many voters are still very, very wary of the excesses of the Kirchner era, including such political thuggery as using the "barras bravas" hooligan firms to "influence" some areas. Until she has gone, I imagine those voters won't touch the Peronists of any type with a golden presidential sceptre.

Good to see Charles Aznavour appears to be on 5%.
