Is this the reason Lib Dem campaigners were being diverted from Hallam to Central ?

Nether Edge & Sharrow resignation was linked to this www.thestar.co.uk/news/labour-sheffield-councillor-suspended-for-trees-vote-1-8358539. This ward is the focal point for the street trees campaign which has made national news - the Green Cllr here Alison Teal was among those arrested. Tories failed to get papers in in time.

I'm the agent for all Sheffield candidates and unaware of any resources being moved from Hallam to Central. Once Clegg's situation became apparent I'm sure the modest resources deployed in Central were redirected to Hallam.

Soham strikes me as a place that might've had Labour councillors once upon a time.

Any explanation for Yscir? Did the elections dept forget about it in May because it was at the end of the alphabet?

The very popular 79-year-old independent incumbent forgot to tell any of her constituents that she was planning to retire.

Besides, Ystradgynlais comes last in an alphabetical list of Powys wards.

As Jamie said, it is good to see that in Sheffield the general election result has not affected our local election campaign, and that we can continue to progress generally in local elections (there is a small swing from Labour to us here).

I'm quite surprised at the size of the swing to Labour in Winterbourne. This is a ward I know well, and have always been surprised the Lib Dems haven't done better here before (it is adjacent to and similar in character to Frampton Cotterell where they have long been active), but it seems obvious that much of even their potential support does seem to be moving back to Labour in much of the south.

People weren't thinking about trees when they voted in the General Election...
