Strangely enough, Hautes-Pyrenees' 2nd constituency (which contains the shrine of Lourdes) was rather close between Ensemble and NUPES. I have been to Lourdes and I am surprised if there are a significant number of left-wing voters there! Very possible that the clericalism of the place makes it a Don Camillo world of Catholics and Commies.

Reports that Élisabeth Moreno lost in North-West Africa. NUPES says they have beaten Roxana Maracineanu. Beaten by a lady who led a strike at an Ibis hotel-tussling with Accor is serious fighting with the French business elite. Why has Macron been so obsessed with former sportswomen as his sports ministers? Flessel, Maracineanu, Oudea-Castera.

Breton regionalist elected with 73.5% of the vote in Morbihan-4ème. Is that their first ever member of the national assembly? There was another one in Finistère I think. Can't remember his name. The defeated Modem candidate appears to be another one of these celebrity sailors that France is oddly fond of.

Le Figaro say that turnout looks likely to be about 46 per cent. Their reporters are also noting "anti-Macron" voters happily swinging behind pretty much any possible opponent. The reporter in Hénin-Beaumont suggests that even NUPES voters are telling them that they're voting for MLP because they hate Macron so much. The famed barrage might be against Manu not Marine. There's no Macron candidate against le Pen. There's a nupes candidate. So that's weird. There's a feeling of anti Macron voting. A bit like 2017. And LREM Lost 5 points since them. And they were transfer toxic already. With 70 LR and UDI and 40 RN there could be more nupes than ensemble mps Yes, I should have put that detail. It was a very weird story. Presumably they think that MLP being in the assembly serves to annoy Manu more than a generic Melenchonista. Now also a report that they believe abstention rates amongst younger voters is enormous. Not sure what that's based on as it stands.

Tematai le Gayic is 21 years old and the youngest MP in the history of the 5th Republic. 50.1 in Wallis & Futuna? What kind of raw vote margin is that!? Well,if JLM gets in, here comes the Sixth Republic!

Does anyone else hate Melenchon and dislike his platform intensely, but would deeply enjoy him becoming prime minister?

Minor controversy in 4ème of Paris. Sarkozy has turned up to meet the Macronista candidate, but not the LR candidate Brigitte Kuster...one of his longest-serving loyalists, who is understandably upset. Dati and Barnier have however turned up to support her.
What is Sarko playing at? Or is this yet more evidence of LREM just becoming a catch-all middle-class party/personality cult?

Various anti-vaxx types and gilets jaunes hangers-on have crashed and burned, not least Francis Lalanne (an angry singer whose glory days are well behind him to put it mildly).
Nupes are putting up some impressive scores in the Nord seats, RN seem to be doing fairly well too.

Does anyone know what Macron's connection to Le Touquet is ? He's from Amiens so not a million miles away but it's not immediately obvious why he is registered to vote and not in Paris. Just a holiday home?

Let's hope they remember this for the next presidential elections. I suppose it depends on how successful this is deemed to be It probably depends on who it's deemed to be a success for. And also how long JLM is around for. Love him or loathe him, NUPES and LFI are both creatures of his force of personality. Once he's off the scene, you could well imagine both concepts unravelling. Plus, the more sectarian likes of the PCF won't be pleased to play second fiddle in the long term. And who knows if the PS will get their act together?

Le Figaro have set up a handy page for the results when they arrive. An easy search function but also a list of the most populous settlements for easy access. www.lefigaro.fr/elections/resultats/

Not to defend Jeremy Corbyn, but if you’re comfortable with Melenchon’s views on anti-semitism nevermind his political views as a whole, then Corbyn should not put you off voting for his party. it does appear that criticism of the appearance Jeremy Corbyn comes from the socialist that is standing against the NUPES candidate From a personal perspective - I really don't like foreign politicians turning up on the campaign trail in other countries. Whilst getting that Corbyn etc have that "internationalist" view.

In a bizarre turn, JLM appears to be bogged down in a dispute with the crooner Michel Sardou, and is trying to arrange a meeting to clear the air.
