A lot of the recent May elections haven’t been that warm. I reckon those May elections in 2005,10 and 15 are below average for that time of year. Certainly compared to 1997. I remember 2010 being very cool, especially as that came from a very bitter winter we had (is it really ten years ago?). 2015, we had some lush weather during April that year as I remember being out campaigning in the lovely heat. I know it was bright on the big day but it did cool down somewhat. 2005 - I barely remember it. I know I was staying with my bf at the time in Coventry watching the results unfold. June 2001 looks below average for the time of year too - I remember doing my GCSEs around that election (I wasn't involved in politics then), and at that point I did my last exam the day before polling day. I stayed up all night, and was looking to go back to bed but my sister (who was 14 then) got herself into trouble for blasting her music at 7:00AM and my Mum and Dad went ballistic at her as she woke my then five month old brother (he's 19 now!).

I am not surprised the recent GE was the wettest, the weather was AWFUL that day! Then again I prefered June 2017 when it was wet and humid - I remember packing a coat whilst telling on a polling station and doubled booked! Re: May 1979 - OK it was five years before I was born, but wasn't that in the midst of a very long cold and bitter winter? Not in the midst of one, by definition. But it came in the aftermath of the Winter of Discontent.

It is the end of a Spring. And the weather was very good in the south.

I look at that list and whilst I know we're a mix of all political parties and beliefs, is there something subliminal with those chart-toppers on the special day? The 1997 one is extremely appropriate with the Conservatives being massacred that year. I don't even know the song for 2019! 2017 I didn't know it until I stayed with a relative two weeks after the GE for his 30th. Blimey, I must be out of touch
