Not so much a by-election, but the first election of a new parish council on 4 May: Batchworth Parish Council. The council will cover Moor Park and Rickmansworth, so, if it becomes a 'political' council, we can all guess the controlling party. The two wards, each electing four councillors, are: Rickmansworth Town Moor Park and Eastbury

There was a byelection a few months ago on Prescot TC where Labour was also beaten on a big swing - there is some major local issue there it appears.
What's the overall make up of the council now?

The two wards, each electing four councillors, are: Rickmansworth Town Moor Park and Eastbury It seems strange that they are electing by whole district wards. I thought it was usual where wards are divided between county council divisions to make parish wards fit these. Of course currently all of Rickmansworth Town ward is in the Rickmansworth division and all of Moor Park & Eastbury is in Oxhey Park but on the new boudnaries Eastbury jons South Oxhey and Rickmansworth Town is split three ways with the Moneyhill area going with Rickmansworth West and a small area also going to Croxley. IN St Albans where they have moved a small part of the St Michaels parish into the St Stephen's division they have made this area into a separate parish ward and I thought this was the rule

Labour had a full slate at the 2014 elections, now Labour 14, Green 2, Lib Dems 1 Not sure about local factors, seems it may be down to Labour being complacent and the other parties realising they can make a fight of it.
