I must admit I wouldn’t have predicted multiple Labour gains while losing Elswick…

I must admit I wouldn’t have predicted multiple Labour gains while losing Elswick… The Greens have adopted the successful Liberal process at local level of fierce targetting and flooding with activists, leaflets, and bar charts. It works well and is very difficult to counter, but once you have built up a base you have to maintain it, and you run short of activists to make further progress. In most places the Greens are nowhere near this self limiting level yet.

I must admit I wouldn’t have predicted multiple Labour gains while losing Elswick… Elswick's demographics aren't helping Labour for once.

Conservative gain from the Lib Dems in Gosforth! First Tory councillor since when? Since 1992.

First elected since 1992, on the council at all since 1996. In large part due to Newcastle Conservatives refusal to target. This was always the ward where they'd be back in.
