A couple of disappointments for the Lib Dems:
Labour regain the final seat in Hendon by 28 votes, and the Conservatives hold Fulwell which was a comfortable Lib Dem gain last year.

The Conservatives held Fulwell and St Michaels at the end so won 3 wards, the same as last year
Final result

Council Lab 53 LD 12 Con 10

There's a history to this. In the past, The region interviewed all applicants for the local government panel, as there were concerns about some prospective Labour councillors. I chaired some of these interviews. I have to say I had no concerns about any of the applicants I saw.

On reflection, Graeme Miller did publicly support Jamie Driscoll before he was barred.

New Leader: Michael Mordey. New Deputy: Kelly Chequer.
I have no idea what's been going on. Will we be told?

I just sat at the back and observed. Again, everything seemed entirely proper.

Having attended twelve years worth of group meetings (not in Sunderland) back in the day i would say you'd need to go to more than one to come to any sort of judgement.
