The best thing about this result is the utterly insufferable nature of so much of Driscoll's online claque, who are gratifyingly devastated - especially when it wasn't particularly close in the end, which surprised even some Labour people. They seem convinced that an admittedly somewhat off colour tweet from McGuinness THIRTEEN YEARS AGO damns her forever, and the very worst of them throw a fair amount of misogyny into the mix as well. Its actually not unlike when Leanne Wood lost her seat three years ago, and similarly satisfying

I'm actually very pleased by this. I was pretty supportive of Driscoll for much of his tenure but was not pleased with his hosting of Ken Loach, my opinions about whom are well known to most of you. Yes I know it was supposed to be an artistic event, but Driscoll was a Labour Mayor hosting an event with someone expelled (rightfully IMHO) from his party. What did he expect?
