Current councillors: 24 Con, 4 LD, 3 The Group of Independent Councillors.
There are boundary changes here, and hence all ups. An increase of one councillor to 32, split into 16 two-member wards, so the ridiculous three-member ward in a council that normally elects by halves is going away.

Some impressively terrible boundaries in Fareham. Looks like the provisional recommendations were flawed but made a degree of sense, and then used the consultation stage to make them much worse. Avenue ward in particular is an abomination.
I do also note that in 2022 Labour got a decent second place in Fareham South, which is the first time we've come remotely close to representation here this millennium. It doesn't seem like the changes are massive between that and Fort Fareham, so it may be one to watch if it wasn't a flash in the pan.

I do also note that in 2022 Labour got a decent second place in Fareham South, which is the first time we've come remotely close to representation here this millennium. It doesn't seem like the changes are massive between that and Fort Fareham, so it may be one to watch if it wasn't a flash in the pan. With the nature of the borough and electing in halves (and finally giving up on the single three member in the far east of the borough) the boundaries in Fareham itself and Portchester were always going to be a bit ropey. But actually, the initial Avenue was a classic case of what looks sensible on a map in fact is a mess on the ground. The new Avenue and Titchfield are undoubtedly ugly, but they make much more sense in uniting communities than what was proposed originally which just went down the middle of random roads. And to the benefit of Labour as Fort Fareham on these boundaries is just about their ideal ward. They really, really should pick up at least one here in these all ups, but then with Fareham Labour, don't be surprised with another disappointing failure...

It's been a while since Labour won there Pre-2002 (so the old Fareham South pre the boundary change of that year). This is the first Labour councillor in the borough since they lost their last seat in 2002.
