A fair chance of a Labour-led administration here. I don't think there's ever been one of those.

And the last Tory run second tier in Sussex I believe. I wouldn't be surprised if Labour needed propping up by the Greens or independents though. Surprised at the complete lack of Lib Dems, can't be many south coast councils with none.

there will be none in Worthing too after May, and no LDs is hardly unusual in Brighton & Hove either.

They lost their last seat in 2014 but had run the council in the 1980s and 1990s. On looking back, Labour was briefly the largest group but not in control in the late 1990s.

And the Lib Dems are absent in both Hastings and Thanet.

There's a long story behind the LibDem weakness in Adur, which I have posted in previous Adur threads I think.

The Independent in Widewater is Ann Bridges, who left the Cons a couple of weeks ago. My suspicion is that she might be moving to Reform was wrong.

Bumped into a council officer on my walk to the station this morning. Working assumption among the officers (and inferring from his comments, among the Cons) is that Adur will be Labour after the elections.

Brighton effect partially responsible here?

Brighton effect partially responsible here? Partially, but possibly more a London effect. If you work in London there are lots of direct trains from the coast around Shoreham which are quite quick, and it makes sense to move out to here so that you have a chance to get on them (they are often full by the time they head inland, or at least were the last time I made a journey on them).
