Current council: LD 20 Con 4 Lab 3 Ind 3 Up in 2024: LD 5 Con 4 Lab 1
Split wards:
Byfleet and West Byfleet: Ind 2, Con 1. Con defending. Ind hold with 38.1% majority in 2023. Heathlands: LD 2, Con 1. Con defending. LD gain from Con with 22.4% majority in 2023. Knaphill: LD 1, Ind 1, Con 1. Con defending. LD gain from Con with 13.2% majority in 2023. (7 votes between Con and third placed Ind) Pyrford: LD 2, Con 1. Con defending. LD gain from Con with 28.4% majority in 2023.
A repeat of 2023 would wipe out the Conservatives. The collapse of the Conservatives in recent years can be linked to the controversy over the town centre development and reckless borrowing in addition to the national picture.
In 2019 one of the three Conservative Councillors defected to Liberal Democrat in Pyrford only to lose in 2021 by almost 400 votes. Pyrford now has two Liberal Democrat Councillors.
Also of note is the safe Labour ward of Canalside is usually Labour first and Conservative second yet in 2023, the Liberal Democrats took second place.

One of the TUSC hails from Winchester. The Greens have fallen from a full slate to just three this time. Knaphill does not have an independent candidate so it will be interesting to see where thee 750 votes go from last year's election. All four Conservative Councillors are restanding with two in wards that were LD gains in 2023 and where LD hold the other two seats. In Knaphill it is Conservative 1, Ind 1, LD 1 with LD gain in 2023. In Byfleet & West Byfleet the Inds hold the other two seats.

They failed to hold any of their seats in 2022 or 2023 so there must be a strong likelihood the wipeout will be completed this year.

For the purposes of approximating total local election votes across certain constituencies,
Woking district and Woking constituency are co-terminous (Huzzah!)
I shall use the "top vote" in the 2-seat ward.

Because of the co-terminosity (co-terminousness?), I have done a dry run, using the 2023 results. There is a slightly different spread of which parties contested each ward. 2023 Totals: Con: 6,783 Lab: 2,841 LD: 13,736 Green: 1,500 Heritage: 196 Independents: 2,411
