All up on new boundaries: www.lgbce.org.uk/all-reviews/havant36 (-2) councillors, moving to a uniform pattern of three member wards. Barncroft (2), Battins (2), Bondfields (2), and Warren Park (2) are turned into Leigh Park Hermitage (3) and Leigh Park Central & West Leigh (3). Hayling West takes the whole of the north of Hayling from Hayling East. The boundaries between St Faiths and its neighbours are adjusted.

From looking like a very likely loss, Labour's under-nomination in wards where they should be looking at three seats will very likely result in the Conservatives retaining control of this council.

This looks like an absolute shellacking for the Conservatives.

Conservatives are the largest party but this is one of those councils they used to completely dominate, often winning every ward.
Final tally is C 13, Lab 10, L Dem 7, GP 4, Ref UK 2. I can see a rainbow coalition of Labour, Lib Dem and Green might appeal?

This is worst case scenario for the Conservatives.

From looking like a very likely loss, Labour's under-nomination in wards where they should be looking at three seats will very likely result in the Conservatives retaining control of this council. You had a point - assuming reasonable candidates Labour could have taken the third seat in a couple of Leigh Park wards. I’d assume that there was an informal deal with the Greens? But the beneficiary wasn’t them or the Tories but Reform… Error.

In the end, we ended up with them voting for anyone they thought would keep the Tories out over just about the whole of the borough (with a few personally inspired exceptions). Obviously, it's created extreme entertainment value for us next door...

That's a seismic shift. Last year looked wobbly admittedly, but expected the Tories to have a small majority, in what used to be one of their very safest councils (just a couple of years ago).

The unlikely Labour win in Hayling last year was repeated with the winner then gathering a very large personal vote and carrying a colleague and a Green (another Labour undernomination) onto the council this year. I’ve met him. He’s impressive.

I’ve met him. He’s impressive. I've known Mark for a number of years. Like Paul who won Hayling West for the Lib Dems last year (and have now brought colleagues with them) it's a real issue for everyone else politically for somewhere as much with a sense of place as Hayling Island.

Reform got 2 (both in the Leigh Park estate, but 3rd in 3 member wards where Labour only put up 2 candidates, I think maybe in an arrangement with the Greens?). Not clear whether Reform would have won these if Labour had put up 3 candidates.

Difficult to know - though Leigh Park is definitely one of the most fertile grounds for Reform in Hants.
Before the results were announced, if somebody said Reform were going to win 2 seats in Hants, Leigh Park would be the place.
