Democracy mate. Conservatives have been hating it for 2500 years.party conference in 484 BC must have been interesting. Another interesting party conference was in 475 AD, the most notable speaker was some dude who wanted to 'Make Rome Great Again!'

Well hold on a minute, it isn't even six weeks since the GE!
Not one poll since then has even shown the winner doing as well as on polling day, I think that is pretty unprecedented (certainly since 1979)
Rather like "leave" voters a year ago, most of those who voted Tory won't be willing to admit they got it wrong yet.
Though the point about UKIP is a fair one - that at least some surveys still show non-negligible support indicates a continued, if modest, demand for that sort of politics.

Right here sonny. What do you want to say about it? only that this is the worst in a series of polls where labour is failing to put on a big lead despite the government falling to pieces, bit late in the day now though Ukip doing rather well despite because of zero press coverage is also surprising FTFY. These days, UKIP hits the headlines almost always because of electorally damaging reasons. The absence of Nuttall as leader (he had the worst ratings out of the 'big 7' throughout the campaign) is probably helping them, too.

Survation poll out tonight : Labour 43% Conservative 38% Lib Dem 7% UKIP 4%. I remember that polls before the General election consistently overestimated UKIP support. I don't know if anything has been done to fix that. It does seem a bit strange that UKIP would almost triple their support from the General election without even having a leader and with the whole purpose of their existence having been appropriated by the two main parties.

Definitely, they massively overestimated UKIP at the last election (I don't think some pollsters allowed for lack of candidates which may have helped) and they probably wouldn't be able to stand anywhere near enough candidates to even match the 1.9% from June nevermind get up to 4%.

Old Survation poll (4-5 October): Labour Party: 44% Conservative Party: 38% Liberal Democrat: 7% UKIP: 4% Green Party: 1%
Note the fieldwork is just after the Prime Minister gave her speech to the Conservative Party Conference. And as it's a fortnight old, I'm not sure there is anything we can really take from it, but just putting it up there for information sake.

Everyone's favourite polling company.. Not everyone. 1 poll can't be extrapolated from. Both the main parties are at 40% within margin of error and will continue to be for quite a while.

Good thing I didn't say anything like that then. Of course, Survation being the closest pollster to the actual GE result is reassuring, but time will tell.

Don’t delude yourself, get ready for a Labour landslide. Watch as Bedfordshire turns red! That depends on your performance on Beds SW, a quite white man van brexity seat where corbynism doesn't go down well.

I agree that you should look at trend not individual polls. But one trend that this poll has confirmed is the continued discrepancy between commitment of 18-24 year olds. Survation poll their respondents on how commited they are to voting which tends to show a larger turnout amongst 18-24 year olds. Some of the other companies choose to model turnout on the last election which tends to show a lower turnout for 18-24. Todays poll confirms the higher turnout as Labours lead increases while the other polls lower turnout show a small lead

Young voters are turning out for Corbyn. That is not a matter of dispute. Other pollsters should not be excluding them.
