And whilst Driscoll relied on Corbynite support to get selected in the first place, his record in office hasn't been especially radical and he's been at pains to present himself as a figure who can work with anybody.

I would love to unearth some quotes he has about George Galloway in the past.

Is this the same Amjad Bashir who was selected to be the Conservative candidate for North East Leeds for the 2019 General Election and then disowned when certian remarks he had made when a UKIP MEP surfaced?

Lets be honest and rename the Workers Party the Palestine Party, it's only real policy is supporting Palestine come what may.

Not that, though he will have Conservatives voting for him (and many for less cynical reasons than you might suspect): sympathy within and without the party is found beyond the 'hard left'. I am acquainted with people who voted for the Liberal Democrats in 2019 and are now voting for Driscoll. The More In Common poll suggests a substantial proportion of their vote is going to Driscoll.

"A Cheshire West and Chester councillor has defected to join a new party founded by a prominent activist, whose views on gender have prompted criticism from transgender rights campaigners. Mandy Clare had been elected to represent Winsford Salt of the Earth in last May's local elections, but has announced she will now be joining the Party of Women. The fledgling party was founded by Kellie-Jay Keen, also known as Posie Parker. The party’s website states that it was founded to ‘safely say’ that ‘no woman has a penis’, ‘no man has a vagina’, there’s ‘no such thing as non-binary’, and that 'transitioning children is abuse’." www.northwichguardian.co.uk/news/24173206.councillor-quits-group-join-new-trans-critical-party/

You would think he would have looked at the damage done by such thoughtless shenanigans in West Tyrone constituency.

After the last week in the SNP, you really think people would have learnt a bit… just talk to your representatives, for heavens sake…

And why would I blench at the one in a nation that encourages the slaying of hundreds of thousands of them to suit the lazy and the dissolute and the incompetent women who demand their children be killed for them by the state?

It's particularly weird because the position of Mayor isn't even that high profile, and if they want to push Seenoi-Barr forwards they can do it quite easily just by maximising her media appearances. That said, I don't think losing a couple of councillors matters that much - they're already pretty irrelevant and almost all of their councillors with personal votes have already left.

Seems to have happened a couple of weeks ago, and to be selection related. Has been followed by: East Devon, Ottery St Mary (2027). Bethany Collins, Labour to Independent.
Now the Tories are at it:
East Devon, Seaton (2027). Del Haggerty, Conservative to Independent.
