All a bit off-thread but as an example of who turns up to vote in the Lords here are the figures from two amendments on the Mental Capacity Bill last March which just happen to float past me...
Con(Govt) 76% - Lab 67% - Crossbenchers 40% - LD 80% Con 77% - Lab 65% - Cross 30% - LD 81%
These are not untypical of highly contested votes (on lower turnouts the government usually has the highest %). My point is that Crossbenchers have an important role but it is not on passing legislation.

(don’t bother with thepress statement which I am sure she had nothing to do with) I hope you’ll forgive me for declining to comment further, for a number of reasons, not least that I feel bound to keep confidential information given when we we colleagues, even if we are no longer

Three councillors elected to Teignbridge Borough Council as Independents are now listed as the Newton says No group. They were members of it before the election but were listed as Independents on the ballot paper.
The group’s strap line is ‘ defending our community from a monstrous council’
They are
Richard Daws - Ambrook ward Janet Bradford and Liam Mullone- both College ward.

What exactly are they saying no to? Maybe it's in the spirit of Henry Root, who once had a letter published in the Evening Standard saying simply: "I wish to protest most strongly about everything".

What exactly are they saying no to? I have forgotten whether the Boston Bypass Independents were in favour of one or against.

His alter ego, William Donaldson, was a fascinating character as well.
