(1) Nothing wrong in lobbying Councillors. (2) The former Buffs Club in my ward has just been (nicely) converted to four flats. (3) Councillor Nawaz Ahmed (ex-Lab, briefly Ind, has indeed joined the Tories. Pendle Council now Con 24, Lab 15, LD 9 (ie admin 24), BNP 1. Happy days.

So, intracommunal Asian Muslim politics have given the BNP their first position of power. Irony does not seem a strong enough noun.

They had one a couple of months ago which was a flop. The BNP man is no friend of the Tories (his main opposition in his ward). The current Mayor is Con. The Mayor from May is Lab. (Decades long agreement on the allocation). I have no idea what is going to happen...

Was the planning application approved? No. Though there were some very odd comments made during its consideration. (It was actually recommended for approval by the Development Control Committee - against officer advice - but turned down by Full Council.)

(1) Nothing wrong in lobbying Councillors. By other councillors? And only those "on the square"?

It seems as though the BNP councillor has sided with Labour and the Lib Dems in this instance. Looking at it objectively, it wasn't that much of a surprise. The above may well be one factor, the recent defections and the politics behind them may also have thrown the BNP councillor behind supporting the Labour - Lib Dem coalition on this. Don't know if there were any other factors behind it.

That said, the Tories are playing a very silly and dangerous game with what they're doing here and it's never going to end well

So how's Brexit working for you?

Croydon: Cllr Jamie Audsley (Bensham Manor ward) has been suspended from the Labour group pending an investigation into a "serious complaint". No further details of the allegation have been given. This means that Croydon is now Lab 38 Con 30 Ind 2.

So much trolling in this thread. Obviously had a minority conservative administration been ushered in with the tacit support a BNP councillor nobody would have considered that worthy of any remotely negative comment.

No, nothing happened since the latest defection (no meetings). All the ridiculous Tory aggro is about the budget meeting where the BNP man was irrelevant (budget carried 25-21). Pendle politics get dafter.
