I'm not aware that she has been. Perhaps comparably, Craig McKinlay hasn't been suspended by the Tories either. If either is found guilty then that would be a different (ecumenical?) matter. As per greatkingrat's point below, this is what confused me. Most of the other suspensions from Labour did not involve being charged with a criminal offence, as I recall.

As per greatkingrat 's point below, this is what confused me. Most of the other suspensions from Labour did not involve being charged with a criminal offence, as I recall. In a criminal case, the determination of guilt lies outside the relevant party's hands and (unless the criminal charge has some ancillary detail relevant to party discipline) a suspension would seem both incorrect and to carry prejudicial implications since it couldn't be justified on disciplinary grounds. Where no criminal charges are laid and the matter appears to lie purely within the party's disciplinary scope a suspension communicated appropriately to indicate no judgement has been made and that a process will ensue is appropriate. Or that's how it seems to me...

Please don't wish one on. Ilford South is just down the road from me.

Mike Gapes isn't going to be resigning his seat but if he was, then Ilford South is now rock solid safe Labour and the Conservatives would only make themselves look foolish by talking up their chances.

Apparently it was a fake WhatsApp conversation made up by Skawkbox. One that totally suckered our one time "paper of record", it would appear.

According to tomorrow's Daily Telegraph, there are eight Conservative MPs considering defecting to the UK Independence Party: www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9703678/Exclusive-Eight-Tory-MPs-in-talks-about-defecting-to-Ukip.htmlGiven that their source is Stuart Wheeler, who might be said to be parti pris, I'm not giving it very much credence at the moment. And it might be a very easy way of relieving tension for Conservative MPs feeling under pressure to go to a UKIP person and launch a conversation on the subject of "I'm annoyed with the Tories and thinking of defecting". Bump. This seems like a very, very long time ago. When Dinosaurs ruled the earth and people defected to UKIP.

Field started his betrayal early though, being one of those left-wingers (Kinnock most prominent amongst them, of course) who refused to back Benn's deputy leadership bid in 1981. By the following parliament, he was backing Lib/Lab electoral pacts and other sorts of funny stuff. And sometimes things seem so far ago AND so utterly current....

Jumped before being pushed? Not really, as a vote of no confidence isn't something he would be too worried about. He has only resigned the whip and he might find a way back. He's 76 now and likely would not have stood again if an election comes round in 2022.

He is citing antisemitism, more will follow over the next 18 months I think. On Frank Field personally, as I’ve said before he’s a decent man whose principles seem to align with those of us who consider ourselves One Nation Tories in the traditional sense. So it’s unsurprising I applaud his principles, although he’d probably get pushed out eventually, and indeed I want him to cross the floor. news.sky.com/story/frank-field-mp-resigns-labour-whip-over-anti-semitism-row-11485776

I doubt he'd go. It's been tried before.

I'm always confused by the many Tories who absolutely love Frank Field. Besides two or three issues, he is very much a socialist and there is zero prospect in him joining the Tory Party.

Lots of Labourites on Twitter, not necessarily unreasonably, saying he should resign from parliament and re-stand for his typically safe Labour seat.
I wonder why they weren't calling for the same when O'Mara resigned from the whip?
