Today has been really good. There is the chav on chav punch up in the Manchester evening news, the toddler furious at his mum for leaving without kissing him and this All better than the News Quiz. I've missed both of these stories!

I wonder where he will now sit in the Lords? I wonder how even UKIP put up with the absurdities of Lord P or Rannoch as Leader!

Ten of the Independent Conservatives have had the whip restored, and are therefore Ind --> Con. They are
Benyon (Newbury) Brine (Winchester) Burt (North-East Bedfordshire) Clark (Tunbridge Wells) Hammond S (Wimbledon) Harrington (Watford) James (Stourbridge) Nokes (Romsey & Southampton North) Soames (Mid-Sussex) Vaizey (Wantage)

Well that has cost them my vote. I have seen that kind of reaction a lot on my Twitter. It isn't wise and it wasn't necessary. Won't affect my vote here, but would if I lived in one of those seats

Vaizey is really a pompous, snivelling little cunt isn’t he?

It makes it easier for Farage to announce 50 candidates, 25 each against Labour and Conservative. I thought he'd already announced 600?

At least three of those penitent Tories are in seats that are likely to be Tory/LDem toss-ups: Watford, Wimbledon and Winchester... which should be interesting...

Harrington is one - but I think he's standing down anyway? I really dislike Greg Clark as well

If the Lib Dems are taking that then they are on course for about 200 seats. It was only 53/47 remain anyway. Surely Watford is loads more likely, not least because there is a large Labour vote which means that the Lib Dems could win on 35% or so, where as they'd need at least 45% to take Newbury.

I really dislike Greg Clark as well Benyon, Burt and Soames have previously stated their intention to stand down as well. Farage will surely jump on the decision to readmit them, but realistically his party are not going to win the election, and switching from the Tories to the Brexit Party in this election is only going to make Brexit less likely.

Newbury does have Lib Dem history, and a decent residual amber vote because of that. There were also decent results across West Berkshire at the local elections and the European elections, though neither were extraordinary. The key to the seat will be how well the Conservative vote holds up in the ultra affluent (and likely very Remain) Downlands villages. I would suspect the Lib Dems will win comfortably in the urban parts of the seat, especially Newbury itself but also in Thatcham, whilst the Tories will probably do well in more down at heel Hungerford.

Stephen Lloyd from Ind to Lib Dem Had no choice if he wants to be re-elected. Has his stance pleased both sides or pissed everyone off though?
