Exit polls, Infratest Dimap for ARD and Forschungsgruppe Wahlen for ZDF. The former usually has slightly more left-wing numbers. Thuringia: ARD ZDF
Linke 29.5% (+1.3) 27 Linke 30% (+1.8) 28 AfD 24% (+13.4) 22 AfD 23% (+12.4) 22 CDU 22.5% (-11) 21 CDU 22% (-11.5) 21 SPD 8.5% (-3.9) 8 SPD 8% (-4.4) 7 Grüne 5.5% (-0.2) 5 Grüne 5.5% (-0.2) 5 FDP 5% (+2.5) 5 FDP 5.5% (+3) 5 Others 5% (-2.1) Others 6% (-1.1) Turnout 66% (+13.3) 88 88
That varies by state and election. Can't remember how it works out for Thuringia, but most of the time there's a provisional result some time after midnight CET.

The left coalition looks like it will struggle to continue

The left coalition looks like it will struggle to continue I agree, but it's very good news for leftwingers (the subset of those who prioritise leftwing economics above everything else, that is) in the long term. Their argument that left-populism is now the only credible way to resist the unconscionable will strengthen.

The left coalition looks like it will struggle to continue The CDU has to hope, that the FDP comes in and will be so suicidal to join the left coalition - otherwise they will have a discussion emerging within the party...

FDP currently on 4,9729%, GRÜ on 4.7%, about 400 polling districts still to come in, that's about 1/7 of the total.

Every hour seems get better for Die Linke and worse for the CDU That's because the rural areas come in first and the cities later. All that's left now are a handful of postal boxes in Erfurt, Weimar and Jena and the FDP have 5,0003% of the vote, very squeaky bum time.

That's quite a striking generational sandwich of the AfD. I wonder at what point over 60 the otherwise present trend of increased tendency to vote for them reverses.

Unlike the UK the German youth is fairly rightwing The German youth are less rightwing than the middle-aged as can be seen here - it's just that the trend seems to reverse at some point. I'd guess it's quite possibly for reasons to do with postwar upbringings, but there could be plenty of factors we're missing.

3 boxes left FDP over the line by 4.5 votes. The Greens look a bit safer.
