Seen quite a few people saying that Labour are confident or very confident of holding Stoke.

I suspect this is completely made-up (probably to influence being markets), but posting it anyway:

Seen quite a few people saying that Labour are confident or very confident of holding Stoke. The embarrassing part is that anyone needs reassurance No, it's expectations management genius

Agreed Adam. I don't see UKIP pulling this and they might well come third. Foul weather, low poll constituency, duff candidates for Holder and Runner Up. LDs making a strong high profile campaign with local medic. That should shed Labour votes to you and UKIP votes to us and with luck keep a significant number of Labour and former UKIP at home. That is a recipe for an odds off chance for us? Medium term a UKIP meltdown would be a major benefit to you. For that reason alone and because I have worn the purple for some years myself, I do not want to see it happen. I don't think it will. A third place for UKIP would be a severe disappointment and stall progress and see a few more points off the National Polls. But it will not finish UKIP nor see a resignation by Nuttall unless his biog/CV/blog problems have really hurt or disturbed him. Yes - and of course, I understand your sentiments. For UKIP to collapse, the clearest route is 1. Humiliation for Nuttal in Stoke - and TBH he's been his own worst enemy. 2. Hammering in May local elections 3. Loss of funding from Banks 4. Loss of national media profile resulting from above. None are certain but they are all possible IMO. Point 1 could be the start, or it could be just a momentary set-back if the higher numbers don't materialise.

Is it wrong that I interpret this photo as Corbyn checking as closely and thoroughly as possible what has been written in his party's name on the other side of the poster, and that he is simply picking an inopportune moment at which to do so?

"Look, sonny! This is the name you vote for...........Right? We know where you live...............Right?" "The Tories might send you home............Right?" "Nuttall will send you home..............Geddit?" "Now, Go home, get dressed, get down the bloody polling station...........Fuck it!"

It looks to me as if the gentleman in the dressing gown in that image is already standing directly outside his home.

In other words you don't know and they have not really talked to you at all? Calm down Carlton. I didn't claim to know this, I'm just retailing rumours that have already been retailed by journalists. It's how these things have worked from time immemorial (or the mid 1990s when I was allowed to stay up to watch these things).

Now you row back onto rumours retailed by journalists!!! In other words 'You don't know nuffing'! We can all read specious gossip in a bloody newspaper.

Whaaat? I was 15 years into my work-life by then.....How old (young) are you? I remember listening to the 83 election results on a small transistor radio on the world service in a distant land.... and that wasnt my first I wasn't allowed to stay up for 1979 but my dad kept coming to relay hourly updates. Watched 1983, but the morphine supposedly helping numb the pain of two broken legs and a broken arm in 1987 (along with actually going to vote because nobody in my CLP thought to suggest a postal vote, and getting hit by an old git in an Austin Metro outside the polling station) meant I slept blissfully through that night.
