I just saw a minute or two of “ The One Show “ before I reached the off switch. The Welsh female presenter seemed to be very excited by Lady Gaga becoming the new president. It’s probably foolish but I do get annoyed by my people being represented entirely by idiots and general figures of fun. Once it was Huw Wheldon.

Lady Gaga was astonishing, overall it was a message, not for me but, for a new generation of Americans, I liked the humour attempts, except Pelosi, she just shouldn't try being funny. I have only been a US citizen for 10'ish years but, for me, this ceremony is about restoring some dignity to, what Americans think are old, traditions. They may only be a fortnight or so old in comparison to UK traditions but, Americans need to see them having meaning otherwise this will just recycle.

I like "Darth Murdoch" and will steal it, even though he seems more of an Emperor Palpatine sort of guy.

I am not saying it warrants sackings but the election night call of Arizona was a bad call and the fact that Biden did eventually win Arizona doesn't change that. There is no way that they had enough information to call it when they did and had they believed it was going to be anything like as close as it was they wouldn't have called it.

Regardless of whether they had enough info to reliably call it when they did, the proposition (by Murdoch and others) that it was bad because "it altered the narrative of election night" even though it was correct, is outrageous. It did help change the narrative - from a wrong one to a correct one. That cannot be bad, by any sane analysis.

That is very odd but a lot of American Protestants seem pretty crazy so maybe it’s a very good thing. Surprised me too. I thought there was a stronger Jewish element to be honest; the Catholic element might be linked to pro-life packing (if I may use such a term). Certainly doesn't seem hugely representative. Well until the death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg 3 of the 9 were Jewish. It looks highly likely to drop to 1 within the next two years as Breyer will surely retire before the 2022 mid terms and give Biden a largely free hand to replace him.

Anyway, Fox News has been losing viewers, someones head as to roll I suppose.

This is unbelievable: apparently Darth Murdoch is upset at Fox for calling the Arizona result correctly, and has sacked people for it. Yes. I like "Darth Murdoch" and will steal it, even though he seems more of an Emperor Palpatine sort of guy. "Rupert Palpatine" scans, but "Murdock" is probably more recognisable.
