It looks as though there are just 4 by-elections during January: * 2 on 12 January * 1 on 19 January * 1 on 26 January
2 are for District Councils - 1 with annual elections last held in May 2016 and 1 with all out elections in 2015 1 is for a Metropolitan Borough having annual elections 1 is for a Scottish Council where the last election was in 2012
Conservatives defend 2 seats both following the death of the previous councillor Labour defends 1 seat following the disqualification for non-attendance SNP defends 1 seat following a death
With all nominations now available both Conservatives and Labour contest all 4 seats, both Greens and UKIP 3, Liberal Democrats 2 whilst SNP and Libertarian 1 each - a total of 18 candidates for the 4 seats.
Predictions on this thread by 9.00 am on day of election.

Sunderland, Sandhill: 100% Labour hold with all predicting UKIP second except brianj, who has Conservative as runner-up, majority ranging from 27% (Lancastrian) to 45% (hempie) Three Rivers, Gade Valley: 100% Liberal Democrat gain from Conservative with majority ranging from 22% (brianj) to 42% (Robert Waller)
