The Monarchy is an equal opportunities employer (unless you are Catholic) and several of its Governors-General in the Caribbean are black, so perhaps not so far fetched. That the de facto heads of state of overwhelmingly black countries are also black proves not a thing about the employment practices of the British Royal Household. That said, nothing in the succession rules is inherently racist. If Harry can arrange a marriage between a Mosotho princess and George, then we may have a black monarch by the year 2120.

I'm sure there would be lots of chitter chatter, but a gay, trans (or even disabled or black PM/Monarch) could have the huge positive benefits in terms of tackling stigma and discrimination. I accept that black Monarch is the most unlikely of those scenarios Indeed. It is what I and most of my friends have craved all our lives. A black, transgender, disabled monarch with learning difficulties. That would be a far more appealing option than many of the current members of the House of Windsor.

What on earth has people having children, and titles going to next of kin, got to do with anything I wrote? In which case.................What does what you wrote have to do with this thread? A question one often asks when reading your threads. I started off by writing that it would be catastrophic if this country were to have a President, i.e. to be a republic. You seem to have ended up by writing that it wouldn't matter because they would still have children and pass on titles. If you mean that the devised former royal family members would still have children, then that does not change the fact that it would be a catastrophe that they have been deposed as the monarchy. My confusion with you in this thread started when you asked "Why, why and why?" in response to my first statement, as if you were asking three separate questions, even though I had only made one statement. I answered that question on the basis that all three "why"s were referring to the same original statement.

Could a gay head of state who was single conduct normal relationshipa outside of their duties in office? The tabloids would have a feeding frenzy...

Supposing a future heir to the throne was gay and did have a boyfriend, and then supposing that they got married legally would the BBC or any other TV channel (Sky) broadcast the marriage ceremony? Would they show the traditional kiss on the balcony of Buckingham Palace?

In my day you were only allowed to mount your horse... unless you were a sailor when it was perfectly alright and your name was Roger the cabin boy.

I think that's an alleyway I don't want to go down, as I suspect it leads to the land of libel.

If you think the HM the Q will sue you if you call her a lesbian I think you will be sorely disappointed. It wasn't HMQ (bless her) I was thinking of, but other family members. Anyway according to Queen Victoria lesbians don't exist....

I think if I'd reigned as long as the Queen and was her age I'd be tempted to announce that I was Transgender just to see what happened. After all, no-one could really press you to do anything about it, you could just watch them squirm. I was always rather surprised that during the Diana kerfuffle she didn't just tell everyone to fuck off, I'd have been mightily tempted.

Charles: being married to a woman (twice) and having two children is a bit of a clue. William: being married with two children is a bit of a clue. George: too early to tell.

George: too early to tell. Well....who is the current head of state? I am not suggesting for a second that HM the Q is other than a hetro-sexual, but then I don't know for sure. I didn't think that Keith Vaz was partial to a slice of navy cake either. Turns out I was wrong. May I apologise for mentioning the Queen in the same post as Vaz I'm sure Vaz won't take offence😊

It would be very sad in this day an age if she was gay but felt the need to have a boyfriend, but of course the marriage would be broadcast as would the perfunctory peck on the cheek. Ha, nice one. To be fair, he didn't say 'heir ess'.
