That isn't exactly what the article says.
But I still feel, and have for some time, that Shirley has passed her sell by date

It mean sophisticated not 'sophisticated'. A typo. We all do it. You missed the 's' off means!!! But do you know what sophisticated means? I presume you're alluding to definition 5 here? en.m.wiktionary.org/wiki/sophisticatedThat was the definition I alluded to in inverted commas.

I bet she has nothing to say about the result of the Sleaford by-election when that is announced next week.

Declaration expected in 45 minutes time, that is to say it is expected in 2 hours time.

Some familiar faces in that photo. One of whom said to me this morning that Goldsmith had lost.

But I still feel, and have for some time, that Shirley has passed her sell by date I would say that she passed her sell by date several decades ago but I am not convinced she ever had anything of value to offer. She is easily one of the most overrated figures in the history of politics, fawned over by journalists and political insiders and completely irrelevant to everybody else.

It means lawyer-like, shallow, ephemeral, surface, tinsel, brittle, fashionable, trendy and cool.

Her ultimate contribution is pretty much zero (as with most politicians).

Lib Dems calling a gain here apparently. I'll wait for the Returning Officer's take, myself...

The Liberals or LDs have either won or been within 4,215 votes of winning the various Richmond-based constituencies in every election since 1974 apart from 2015, which was very much the outlier:
Feb 1974, Con maj over Lib: 3,827 Oct 1974, Con maj over Lib: 4,215 1979, Con maj over Lib: 2,530 1983, Con maj over Lib: 74 1987, Con maj over Lib: 1,766 1992, Con maj over LDs: 3,869 1997, LD maj: 2,951 2001, LD maj: 4,964 2005, LD maj: 3,731 2010, Con maj over LDs: 4,091 2015, Con maj over LDs: 23,015

That's a very poor description of Richmond Park denisons. Hoxton or Deptford perhaps... Most people in those places live in council estates tho. Ah London. It's not what people think! But Richmond is where The Man (softer more liberal version) lives, yes.

What a fool that man has been. Threw away London and now lost one of the safest seats in Britain through wilful stupidity and gross arrogance. And the Conservatives let him do it and stand as an independent thus cutting off the support of the full machine. What a Fred Karnos! They should have expelled him from the party and put up a bright young candidate to fight a strong Brexit and pro-Heathrow and right wing campaign with a view to him taking it back at the next GE. UKIP are as bad is losing the opportunity to campaign hard on Brexit and make a lot of points with the new leader on the by-election panel. This has been an utter disaster and people should be sacked over it on the party planning and campaigns side.

Yes, that makes perfect sense doesn't it Shirley you stupid cow. The results of a nationwide referendum should clearly be overridden on the basis of a by election in a single constituency. You can bet more Lib Dems, including Farron, will be saying the same thing. It'll probably start with Olney's acceptance speech.
