Good evening ladies and gentlemen and others of both binary and nonbinary self and other identification. My name is Ulthcalthing, I am a Tymbrimi ambassador to Earthling culture. prefered pronoun, His Excellency. Emotionally, I am very fond of you although intellectually, I am frustrated, contemptuous and disappointed with you. For the sake of full disclosure it must be noted that as with a former Forum member, Boogieeck, my thoughts are channelled through the earthling medium of Mr Sandy Wallace, a former Conservative, unaligned and Libertarian Councillor in Aberdeenshire. As with Boogieeck however, Uthacalthing is not the same personage as Mr. Wallace. Uthacalthing, like Boogieeck is both less serious and more appallingly frank than Mr Wallace. Niether however is My Excellency Uthacalthing the same personage as Boogieeck, although if anyone cares, or even if nobody does, he may be able to shed some light on the thought processes of either, both or neither. Boogieeck left the forum for a range of reasons, but firstly because he had both no more original thoughts to share and because most of you had forgotten his original thoughts. Secondly, he had some pressing academic work to complete and he had allowed this forum to become an obstacle to that work. That moment has passed if only temporarily It is the intention of My Excellency, Uthacalthing to be less confrontational than Boogieeck had become and it is also the intention of Mr Wallace to avoid permitting My Excellency, Uthacalthing to aborb literally days of time each month that might be better devoted to practical work in what used to be called Real Life. This it is anticipated will permit a flurry of Forum activity over the next two to three weeks, then very limited activity if any from Mid january onwards until May But as I am sure we can all agree, the Gooksyu-Gubru are a bunch of C****. Although the Thennanin are OK. Alien8Ted informs me that he is of the opinion that the minor squabbles between the Tymbrimi and the Gooksyu-Gubru are socialogically a very boring area of study compared with the weirdly intricate magnificence of human social interactions that so intrigue and baffle the Great Association Society of the Brethren of Affiliated Galacitcal Sociologists. (Known as Gasbags for short)

Hello - I posted in this forum under another name but I posted like five times and deleted my account a while back. I am an Indian American from Western Pennsylvania and the reason I came back was because of ibfc’s excellent posts on the India thread. In the homeland I support the Telugu Desam Party because that is the party of my paternal family, and in Telangana where my maternal family lives I would vote against the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. In the United Kingdom, I’d be a Liberal Democrat and in America I am a moderate Democrat.

So that was The Long Goodbye but this is Playback? Welcome back to the mean streets. I'm glad someone noticed who I named myself after. It was a cold December winter, and it would be until the weekend. The snow laid across the ground like a bride's discarded veil. There were leaflets piled up like dirty dishes in an understaffed diner. There was a breeze which riffled through them like a '70s DJ fondling a teenager. I looked up and saw the source. She was standing there. She had legs that went all the way up and punched the bourbon right out of my system. I could see this dame was gonna keep me up all night one way or another. Her voice rang out like an angel hollering for a cab. "Come on, the count starts in ten minutes!"

In case anyone was wondering where I've been the last9 months, here's what happened in brief.
Got covid, I mean really got covid, gravely ill (as I predicted I would be ifI caught it), just about survived (thank you NHS), now have long covid, took a demotion at work for a job where I could work 3/5 days from home, will probably try to find a way to take early retirement if I can make the sums add up [60 laterthis year] as going back into the office is, literally, potentially lethal. Thanks JRM.
When I felt well enough, we decided to move house from the city to somewhere rural to help with my L-T health, sale agreed, buyer about to complete in a few days, fuck-off mini-budget happens, interest rates go through roof, buyer pulls out, we have to pull out of our ideal home, still in the city making my health worse. Thanks Kwasi. These Tories sure know how to fuck with people's lives dont they!
Anyway, thought I'd give this place a try again, but not so often in GeneralPolitics as it can get toxic in there. Will aim to stick to the nerdy/psephological and the Fun&Games sub-forums for the most part.
Nice to be here again. I mean, literally, nice just to be able to still be here, as at one point I didn't think I would be!

Now I feel that it might be worth elaborating on my boorish response. You could have come on here and made a personal statement to the effect that you had been quite ill, with ongoing conditions and had been focused on personal issues. Everyone, even I, would have welcomed you back and wished you well. That is not what you chose to do.
You chose to come back on and blame your issues on named individuals, and further, you chose fairly explicitly to assign to them not misjudgments, but personal enmity.
Now I am OK with that, if you want to have a debate on political judgements where we disagree on the efficacy of alternate policies or if you want to have one where we simply call each other frauds, morons, and thieves I am up for either.
I am glad the NHS did you the service they are paid for. Miraculously, so did every other health service in Europe.
I see that neither of us have changed.

I've no idea who you are, so you seem to have the advantage of me , but frankly I'm not interested and I don't intend to discuss this matter further.

I had been wondering where you were and had occasionally been posting obscure 80s tracks in the hopes that might tempt you. Good to hear that you are better, not so good to hear that certain things have fallen through. Hopefully 2023 will be a lot better for you.

And to say he was not coming to these threads because they often get too toxic! But, of course, posting on them anyway and being very toxic. Nice start! How to win friends and influence people.
