I really hope that your plans aren't lost forever as I would absolutely delight at the sheer amazing horror of gerrymandering that I have never been able to re-create It doesn't take much imagination to draw ugly congressional maps in Maryland, aesthetically I'd say mine is nicer than the real map, which includes this...

Good news jamie etc. DRA isn't lost forever, Dave's ISP moved servers last week which is causing the problem and should be fixed. Florida has it's own website to create districts on though you have to register to use it. Also while likely not what you're looking for, there's this fictional redistricting game I remember playing from years ago. ___ Lancashire is being a pain to gerrymander, Chorley is the obvious seat to eliminate but its too awkwardly placed to distribute those Labour areas thinly enough and you can't snake the Blackburn constituency down without taking in a lot of Conservative territory. Also all of Blackpool is very evenly split between Labour and Conservatives, so it's a waste to make a Labour seat there, while making the seats safe-ish Conservative would involve splitting Fylde to bits. Still beautiful (or horrific) to think North of Greater Manchester/Liverpool you can reduce Labour to just 4 seats - Preston, Burnley and Accrington, Blackburn and Workington and Whitehaven.

Good news, now all we need is a solution for Microsoft Silverlight Where did you find out about the ISP btw? I first become interested in boundaries thanks to the Redistricting Game, particularly in terms of demographics gerrymanders.

I emailed the site creator to ask if it was a temporary hiccup or permanently obsolete. It's working again now , time to take 500 screenshots! I first heard about gerrymandering through the history of Northern Ireland unionists gerrymandering councils (the maps of which are unimpressive, no finesse in the drawing since there was no need for population equality - amateurs ) and found the game from there.

Would you be able to email him and ask if DRA will become unusable from 30th November still? It's through software like DRA that we can now gerrymander properly

Tip, hold the control key when colouring districts - it draws a rectangle to highlight all within it instead of doing it precinct by precinct. Also it doesn't work on Google Chrome, best to use Internet Explorer, Firefox etc.

Can someone point me in the direction of information about DRA. I have not come across it before. gardow.com/davebradlee/redistricting/launchapp.htmlDRA is Daves Redistricting App. It contains data for each US state on ethnicity, electoral result etc, by each electoral district. It allows you to draw House of Representatives district boundaries. This could be so you can make better ones, to gerrymander is favour of 1 party or just to create good maps.

ntyuk1707 Your unionist gerrymander eliminates Labour? Implying that it's possible to create a safe(ish) Labour seat in Scotland (as of this present time).

NB: It is possible to create a gerrymander without the map looking ugly.
Want to create a Wandsworth seat with a Conservative majority larger than Putney's? Here is the solution:
(other seats in area shown for fit only)
The notional Conservative majority of Wandsworth Central (marked in orange on this map) would be 26.7%, and even larger at 28.6% for Putney & Wimbledon North (marked in pink). Battersea & Vauxhall (marked in blue) meanwhile, would be a marginal Labour seat with a Labour majority of just over 4%.
Those seats look better than proposed ones in SwLpndon in my honest opinion.
