I'd be fascinated to see their North East - if it's anything like the rest of the map they'll have Labour winning Corbridge but losing Wallsend or something equally daft. I seriously wouldn’t be surprised if they have Labour winning Stocksfield and Broomhaugh while losing Prudhoe North.

I think Baughurst & Tadley North was a Lib Dem gain too & is no longer a split ward. NB this is Basingstoke & Deane's third boundary review this century which goes to show the rapid development of the area.

Is there a story behind the Green win in Ulverston? Doesn't seem like the most obvious place to elect a Green councillor

Is there a story behind the Green win in Ulverston? Doesn't seem like the most obvious place to elect a Green councillor Remember my profile of the Barrow & Furness constituency? There's been an "alternative" element in Ulverston for a while (a major Buddhist centre nearby, for example) and if anything it has been growing in influence. The former long standing Labour county councillor for Ulverston East, Wendy Kolbe, was in many ways a proto-Green and a lot of people were aware of this and seemed OK with it.

Waltham Abbey, Our Father (Paternoster) must be the only religious themed ward (not named after a saint) in the entire country. Any idea why it was named that?

Waltham Abbey, Our Father (Paternoster) must be the only religious themed ward (not named after a saint) in the entire country. Any idea why it was named that? It's an old name - it was retained from pre-1999 according to the report from the boundary review. Presumably it was named after a church; I can find references to Paternoster Hill in the area too, but little more. Quite a few wards with religious names that aren't saints though. Guildford alone has Christchurch, Holy Trinity, and Pilgrims. I'm not particularly disposed towards them - in the main they do a poor job of identifying communities. Oxford is one of the few exceptions (St Clements is the common name for the neighbourhood centred on that street, while St Margarets is also quite often used to refer to that bit of North Oxford).
