In the preface of "Minor Parties at British Parliamentary Elections 1885–1974", Fred Craig wrote "'minor party' has for the purpose of this book been defined as a party not allied or affiliated to the Conservative, Labour or Liberal parties". Unless there's been some strange recent development with the SNP, it still fits that description and has done throughout its existence.

1. Why does he have to be headless? 2. Where is the statue, or is there a very good reason why they are being coy about its location? 3. There can be few MPs with a responsibility for the killing of another MP. Wasn't he driving the Rocket when it ran over Huskisson?

Barnsley (I think). 3. I've seen it referred to as "being in charge of" the loco - perhaps supervising the driver?

Unless there's been some strange recent development with the SNP, it still fits that description and has done throughout its existence. Of course by this definition the Ulster Unionist Party would still be classified as a major party. Which makes said definition look somewhat ludicrous when applied to the 21st Century.

Love how the SNP was once classified as a 'minor political party'... It was a minor party even 10 years ago, at least in terms of House of Commons representation. In the 2010 General Election they only won 6 seats. (Three of which they lost and a fourth was nearly lost in 2017).

With the official renaming of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, only the Home Office, HM Treasury, Ministry of Defence and Cabinet Office have retained an unchanged name for 50 years or more.
