Tyne Bank, because why not? To my utter horror they seem to have thought, "good start but needs improving", and decided to stick the spare wards in mid-western Tyne together.

The entire Northeast report seems to have been written with the hope of being posted to this thread.

I'd like to nominate Broadstone, Ferndown and Kinson. We will see just how much it really is "pitchforks and wicker men time" when it is discussed at the next Ferndown Town Council meeting.

ORPINGTON (78,277): Gains Cray Valley West, otherwise unchanged.
The Commission has in fact agreed with this. Some of their proposals for London actually appear worse than what I came up with.

I've been putting together a North East submission, and was interested to see that the BCE say that Northumberland could be given 3 seats, Tyne & Wear 11, Durham 6, Darlington 1 and Teesside and Hartlepool 5. This is actually wrong (Durham only has enough electors for five seats) and the Teesside combo is too big for five seats, but it got me thinking and I think I've devised an 11 seat Tyne & Wear option. It's ugly and not a particularly good solution, but a few of the seats are surprisingly neat and it's much less of an abomination than the Initial proposals: Sunderland Central (71143) - unchanged Houghton & Sunderland South (75413) - gains St Anne's Washington & Sunderland West (71848) - loses St Anne's, gains Birtley and Lamesley South Shields (71143) - as per the BCE Jarrow & Gateshead North (72949) - loses the Boldons, gains Felling, Bridges and Duston & Teams (or Deckham) Gateshead South (71792) - Blaydon and the rest of Gateshead east of the Derwent Gateshead West & Newburn (71397) - the remaining four wards of Gateshead, the five south-westernmost wards of Newcastle, Benwell & Scotswood Newcastle North (71398) - the remainder of the present North, Jesmond, West Gosforth, Kenton, Blakelaw, Fenham Newcastle South (71101) - the rest of Newcastle, plus Northumberland Tynemouth (73397) - minus the three easternmost wards, plus three wards along the Tyne North Tyneside (71068) - everything else

Seeing as the discussion on the Windsor thread was wandering well away from being about Windsor, I thought I'd post the 18-seat Hampshire that I've just come up with as a result of my musings on why an 18-seat (650 quota, 5% tolerance) Hampshire was very difficult indeed here in a more appropriate thread. It is absolutely not pretty. East Hampshire, Meon Valley, Havant, and Gosport are all unchanged, and Portsmouth North and South just swap a ward. And I suppose the New Forest is as good as it is going to get. But the rest of it... North West Hampshire 72415 Yes Basingstoke 71402 Yes Aldershot 72155 Yes Farnborough 71220 Yes New Forest West 71289 Yes New Forest East 70787 Yes Romsey and Eastleigh 71922 Yes Winchester 71779 Yes Southampton Test 71764 Yes Southampton Itchen 72002 Yes Netley 68611 Yes Fareham 70005 Yes Gosport 72357 Yes Portsmouth South 65912 Yes Portsmouth North 68980 Yes Havant 69712 Yes Meon Valley 71131 Yes East Hampshire 70063 Yes

I had a lot of trouble with Hampshire for the 600 seat version. I just couldn't find anything satisfactory despite several tries. But I'm not going to bother looking at these until the review starts and the Boundary Commission posts the electorates it will be using. With just a 5% tolerance options are limited, and a sensible map can be kiboshed by a small increase or decrease in a ward electorate.

Worcester West and Malvern. This would actually be a neat seat, joining Malvern Hills district with Worcester west of the Severn, and the Severn would form a natural eastern boundary. It would completely gerrymander Labour out of contention in Worcester. The knock on effects would be horrendous though. To get Worcester East up to size means either dividing Droitwich or sprawling east and north into rural areas. Possible fall out could include "Redditch and Rubery".

The Commission reputedly has a rule against 4 authority constituencies, but no one mentioned 10. And now I know that if I really, really want to I can access the plan builder on the phone. And have also learned how to take screenshots w/ this thing.
