The current 'Westmorland and Lonsdale' seat is missing a large chunk of historic Westmorland too. At least mine contains the former county town! As does my version of Westmorland, which has Lonsdale removed from it (to the extent this is possible).
Why was Sedbergh, formerly in West Yorkshire, ever moved to the North West region? There appears to be no logical reason for including it in South Lakeland, which has the majority of the county of Westmorland (although notably not the county town of Appleby-in-Westmorland) in it.

Yeah, that's probably more realistic anyway. Five larger seats entirely within Cumbria seems the way to go. I'm currently going through the rest of my North West proposals to see which bits belong here, which in 'Fantasy Constituencies' and if any can actually go into the main NW thread.
In the 1970s, the 1990s creations of statistical and administrative 'Regions' weren't really a consideration. Their were different regions for TV purposes at the time, though. There's a bit of historic Cheshire now in the East Midlands, and of course some of Hampshire ended up in the South West.
My former stepdad's late father lived in Sedbergh*. The former supported Yorkshire CCC (then again, Cumberland and Westmorland are Minor Counties) but also Manchester City FC. He must've been brought up to have a pathological dislike of any side that played at Old Trafford!
*This was the reason for my only visit there to date, nearly 19 years ago.

Wythenshawe and Wilmslow (77309) Dagnabbit - I've just come up with a good plan for Cheshire that takes me straight into a Wilmslow & Wythenshawe seat. Am I brave or dumb enough to submit it? (I doesn't include Prestbury or Alderley Edge, but still.)

I too have a plan ready for the North West that treats Wythenshawe as part of the East Chesire review sub-area, although it ends up as probably in the only seat within that area that gets away with minimum change. Wilmslow surely has to end up in the successor to Tatton, else Gideon will have a fit.

A bit difficult given the paucity of Labour wards. The Labour group on Surrey County Council came to our local party meeting the other week; he's over 6 feet tall but that's about the only thing that's big about Labour in Surrey.

I know, as I said on 2018-WALES I am paternally from Surrey (woodham) so Nanna and Granddad are in Phillip Hammond the Foreign Secretary's seat of Runnymede and Weybridge CON Maj 44.2% ( Runnymede & Weybridge Labour - Hilarious) so I understand how ridiculously safe for Tory Surrey is as the LIBERALS are the only challenger so it's safe for quite some time bar a Liberal Surge to over 200 seats

Some of the wards fought this year were - if not very close - by no means out of sight. www.runnymede.gov.uk/electionresults

I've changed my mind and decided to post this little monstrosity, but it's going in this thread rather than the main Y&H one. AustralianSwingVoter might find it useful. Sheffield, Barnsley and Rotherham with no split wards: Sheffield Moorlands & Penistone 73,202 Sheffield, Hillsborough & Ecclesall 71,212 Sheffield, Heeley 78,366 Mosborough & Maltby 74,601 Rotherham South & Attercliffe 74,452 Sheffield Central & Masbrough 77,301 Ecclesfield & Wentworth 76,792 Barnsley North 71,128 Barnsley South & Wath 71,775 Rotherham North 72,254 Note that Rotherham town is split into four. The Moorlands & Penistone seat is not connected by road, and Ecclesall & Hillsborough only just is.

On the other hand, if it's a no-ward-split solution the Commission might like it.

This one began as an earnest and sincere attempt, but as you can see, something kinda went wrong. I initially tried to merge Aberconwy with Bangor without adding the likes of Colwyn Bay to the constituency, can't be done it seems.

A pair of constituencies that follow the path of the A470 road, which goes North to South down through Wales directly from Llandudno to Cardiff. The whole thing: A closer view of the northern stretch: A closer view of the southern end: (May have a few extra bits attached in order to meet quota...)
