You lot can never criticise me ever again about constituency names. "Scarcely better than a Scottish Boundary Commissioner" would not be legit criticism but an actionable insult. [Edited to say what I actually wanted to say]

"Argyll, Bute and South West Highland" really rolls of the tongue nicely, doesn't it? You should see what that is in Gaelic.

"Argyll, Bute and South West Highland" really rolls of the tongue nicely, doesn't it? How is that better than "Argyll, Bute & Lochaber"? I was being sarcastic, it's an abomination. "Argyll, Bute & Lochaber" is an okay name, but I would rather it remained "Argyll & Bute".

The two central Fife seats' names are of the same quality, of course, though unchanged from revised proposals. (The seats themselves are unobjectionable, in sharp contrast to the ridiculous initial proposals.)

Renfrewshire/ North Ayrshire/ Inverclyde is a mess. The initial proposals there are better than the revised or final. Every else is 'meh', but will do.

"...is duly elected as the Member for Lanarkshire Compass Point." I get that the Commission wants to have a clear distinction between Holyrood and Westminster constituency names, but as far as I can see, they have no clear idea of what the two systems should be. Until they do, I will keep weeping into my tea. My instinct would be base one on the urban landscape (so largely town names) and the other on natural features like rivers and hill ranges. I'm sure there are better ideas out there but it's a starter for ten.

Does anyone know the logic behind the change of "Dumfries and Galloway" to "Galloway and Dumfries"? My Mum, who is a native of Wigtownshire is baffled by this change, as am I. It has always been "Dumfries and Galloway" and seems illogical to change it now.
