Donnington is where the MOD supply depot is..those seem quite big numbers for a PC election.

In today's episode of The Archers on Radio 4, it was Ambridge's annual fete and there was much anticipation over the mystery guest, who came to judge the best scarecrow competition. A group of unruly villagers threatened to sabotage the scarecrow competition with an impromptu protest.
The mystery guest proved to be none other that Jackie Weaver, of Handforth Parish Council fame, who is presumably an Archers fan. She seized a microphone and drove off the protesters, telling them that they had absolutely no authority at the fete.

God, she's getting tedious. And she still hasn't addressed the issue of whether her actions at Handforth were legal. (My view is that they weren't. The way she has become a sort of folk hero is an embarrassment to some Clerks and councillors.)

I happen to know that one of the writing team is a local Lib Dem member, so may be more keyed into political events than others.

There is a Town Council by-election in Alton (Hampshire) on 16th September. I think this is a LibDem defence.

Alton Wooteys ward, caused by the resignation of Pam Bradford (L Dem). 2019 election: BRADFORD, Pamela Jean (Liberal Democrat) 330 TITTERINGTON, Graham Charles (Liberal Democrat) 251 GREEN, Daniel Oliver Liam Sydney (The Conservative Party Candidate) 244 NICHOLSON, Julie Martha (Labour Party) 207 MOWSE, Ivan Austin (Labour Party) 185 Currently reading a lot about Alton in the 1860s in this book - the gruesome scene was in the next door ward of Alton Amery.

I’m surprised that Yeovil one is a LD gain from Lab. I don’t think Labour would have been elected there. Unless there has been a defection.

Yeovil Town council college ward result in 2019 was LD 871/849/831/796/782/756 Con 431 Lab 245
A Labour candidate was, oddly, co opted to the council in Aug 2020, and her resignation has triggered the by election. So it is a LD gain from Lab
