Emily Mathias has just tweeted that BBC Parliament will be replaying the EEC Referendum from 1975 on Saturday from 9.00pm (however this is not been confirmed by the Sky EPG)

There wasn't one Common Market Referendum programme. With no BBC News channel, other programmes to show, and results not coming that often, there were several programmes through the day.
The Radio Times shows the first starting at 11.45 AM and going on to 1.30 PM. The next started at 2 PM and ended at 3.58 PM. Then there was a Nationwide special at 6 PM until 7.15 PM.
Only the second programme has been repeated and is on Youtube.

It's a shame that the 1975 referendum was counted at county level (regions in Scotland), meaning that there isn't that much psephological information to be had from it. That was deliberate. MPs didn't want to have constituency level results because it would raise questions of constitutional principle over whether anti-market MPs were truly representing constituencies which had voted to stay in, and vice versa.

The patterns of strength for 'in' and 'out' are very interesting, and, I suspect, would be quite different now.

The worst example IMO was London which was handled as a single count at Earl's Court. The original proposal (I believe) was that there should be a single national count for the whole UK, probably held at Earl's Court, with no regional or local sub-totals at all. This was based on the assumption that Scotland would vote NO and that England would vote YES - and the constitutional difficulties which might arise if they did. In the end, Scotland voted 60+% and England 70+%, rather than being 40+% and 50+% as some had feared.

Fascinating that it is now the reverse that seems more likely.

And here by comparsion is Election 1974 (October) I think that map is not quite right as far as the SNP is concerned: it only shows 9.5 SNP seats instead of 11. The ones missing are Perth & East Perthshire, and the eastern bit of East Dunbartonshire. Here is my version, which i did many years ago:

That map came from Wikipedia and does show 11 SNP coloured sections (however as I do not know what the constituencies are I am identifying them by 2015 boundary names): Western Isles, Argyll and Bute, Dumfries and Galloway, Dunbartonshire East, Moray, Banff and Buchan, Angus, Dundee East and two seats to the south of Stirling and to the north west of Edinburgh that I have no idea what they are!

Thanks. Kind of reminds me of Michael Fabricant.

Two constituencies have detached parts. The two you have no idea about are Clackmannan and East Stirlingshire. East Dunbartonshire was also non-contiguous, taking in the part which you correctly identified aswell as the blue bit next to Stirlingshire.

Thanks. Kind of reminds me of Michael Fabricant. He wrote a pamphlet for the Fabians in 1973 called "Europe the Way Back" and in 2000 a book called "Separate Ways: Britain and Europe". In 1966 another of his books "Entitled to Know" included the collapse of Common Market negotiations in 1963. He came to be regarded as being on the left but only really because of his attitude to Europe, otherwise he had been a mainstream Gaitskellite for most of his career. Didn't get promoted as far as he thought he should have been I think.

His tendency not to suffer fools gladly didn't help him there I think, nor in his bids for the leadership.
Kinnock came to openly despise him (and the feeling was mutual)
