I've added a poll to brush up my knowledge of Estonian political parties. I'll need to do a bit of research before I decide who I would be most likely to vote for.

The Centre Party are a left liberal party with ties to Putin's party. Basically, the Russians vote for them.

Final results expected soon. Both the Conservative People's Party and the Free Party have passed the 5% threshold and will be in the Parliament

A man of such hardline, right-wing madness it'd make any Republican wince and vote Obama. The one, the only, Monsieur Maurice Duplessis, a man whose administration is referred to as "the Great Darkness" (long-time PM of Quebec).

There's a great quote from one of his relatives: The saying goes that after the death of every great man there's a long period of ingratitude. I find Maurice Duplessis's period is lasting pretty long.

I find Maurice Duplessis's period is lasting pretty long.He was a strange man, and his legacy is dark, but Quebecers like to pretend nobody ever voted for him. They did, for a long time, and in large numbers, vote for him. So he must have had some appeal. A complex and interesting man.

Final result:
Reform 27.7% 30 seats (-3) Centre 24.8% 27 seats (+1) Social Democratic 15.2% 15 seats (-4) Pro Patria 13.7% 14 seats (-9) Free Party 8.7% 8 seats (+8) Conservative People's 8.1% 7 seats (+7)
Will be interesting to see who Reform make deals with for their coalition. Anyone but Centre and CPP presumably.

My Finnish colleague agrees that Estonian is "Finnish gone mad".Not sure what Estonians think... There is apparently one more case and one more letter, but is comprehensible. The much quoted link with Hungarian does not mean Finns can understand it...oh no.

Estonian and Hungarian are roughly as closely related as are English and Sanskrit.

The much quoted link with Hungarian does not mean Finns can understand it...oh no. So that's only 16 cases then... My Finnish mate says that Estonian accents are even more bizarre than rural Finish ones which is saying something!
