1964 yet again. Let's say that Wilson and Douglas-Home end up on similar numbers of seats: say Wilson ends up with 313 and D-H on 308.
1. Does Wilson still attempt to govern as a minority or does he try and form a government with the Liberals? 2. Are the Liberals even willing to do so? 3. Can D-H form a government with the Liberals?

I suspect a minority Labour Government with Wilson looking for the opportunity to cut and run.
I wonder if there would be moans from the Conservatives about the West Lothian question?

I wonder if there would be moans from the Conservatives about the West Lothian question? Unlikely.

Tam Dalyell hadn't yet asked it. But the fact is that for fifty years Northern Irish MPs were able to vote in Westminster on issues that did not affect their constituents as they were reserved to Stormont. Between ten and twelve of them were Conservatives (UUP). That had major effects between 1950 and 1951 and between 1964 and 1966.

John07 has the correct answer - any talk of the "West Lothian" question then would have been countered by the "West Belfast" question.

What happened to the NI MPs who found themselves jobless when Stormont was suspended? Did they get a pay off?
