Big rise for the Tory vote in the County division. Personal vote unwiding a little?. Safe enough hold with over 50%.

Terrible UKIP demographics though so on that basis, pretty par. Why is that? Rich, new suburb, This is Andrew Teale's description: 'The age of the area means that there are few reliable statistics, but with such a recent private development you'd expect a relatively prosperous demographic.' By the name of one of the retiring councillors it's probably not entirely white either, especially around somewhere like Northampton of which it is essentially a wealthy suburb.

Big rise for the Tory vote in the County division. Personal vote unwiding a little?. Safe enough hold with over 50%. More likely to do with the Tory candidate being a sitting district councillor in one of the wards making up the county division so a Tory facing personal vote. Still an impressive result for them.

Windemere DC result LD 416 con 184 Green 50 Windermere CC result LD 1061 Con 810 Ind 123 Green 61 Goodness, by South Lakeland standards that is pretty shoddy for the liberals.

Yeah pretty poor result in Grange Park but as Khunanup says its not a place we'd expect to do all that well Which is not say I didn't think we might do a bit better, obviously). Stunning result where it counts though. Those are decent Tory results in Lakeland. The county result may be partly explained by having a Tory district councillor standing but the district result itself is very good compared against past form

As in Doncaster earlier this year, the lesson of S Tyneside is "vote Green, get UKIP"

As in Doncaster earlier this year, the lesson of S Tyneside is "vote Green, get UKIP" Come on Bish, that's scraping the barrel a bit. I seem to remember it was you who were exhorting us to stand a full slate and contest every by-election. I assume you meant then to stand a candidate and ensure we didn't receive any votes.
