Yes I have North Yorkshire including Scarborough. I do not have much on Scarborough predecessors. Ok, I'll continue from 1974 backwards as you've got up to there. I will also have Sheffield, so will summarise what I have on that as well. mdfs.net/Docs/Sheffield/Election/ is what I've got online so far, I'm working my way forwards from the 1930s to meet up with David Ashforth working backwards from the 1970s.

Over the years I have collected historic election results for the UK districts covering from 1973 to date. In addition trying to gather results from 1945 to 1973, and have a large amount of that information although for these older years I do not have a complete picture. I am slowly tidying them up into a reasonable format (Excel) and thought that I would share these spreadsheets if people are interested. I will try to upload a couple of districts per week. There are limitations, so for instance I do not have all the by-election information (I go back to 1996 but not before) I would appreciate any comments, additional information or corrections that you may spot. So the first one is Thanet District - View AttachmentI have no previous historic information for Kent, so if anyone knows of results for Broadstairs & St Peters UD, Margate MB or Ramsgate MB, then I would appreciate that. I hope this interests some of you. Thanks for this - my uncle (Colin Harvey) has a long and proud record of not being elected here in various wards for Labour, his narrowest defeats being 61 votes in 1979 (in Ethelbert ward, was that really a ward name?) and 37 votes in 2011 in Garlinge. (but the defeat that hurt him the most was 1983 in one of the very rare SDP/Lib victories in Thanet). My aunt Meg has also stood many times but always in safe Tory wards.

Ah, I may be able to help there, I have the 150th anniversary History of the City Of Sheffield on loan which has a rundown of political numbers and some overviews of changes of ward results, so cross-referencing with these could fill in some of the gaps. After that it will be trawling through the newspaper archives.

I'd be very interested in any north Essex results you've got, particularly for Colchester and Tendring.

I would be interested in seeing both liverpool and salford, particularly the period 1973-1998 for both if you have them. I've got Liverpool results from 1982, 1983, 1984, and those from 1986 onwards are in the Local Elections Handbooks.

After that it will be trawling through the newspaper archives. It's years since I read Clyde Binfield's The History of the City of Sheffield 1843-1993. The following two books also give an overview of some changes in wards. John Mendelson, William Owen, Sidney Pollard, Vernon M Thornes, The Sheffield Trades and Labour Council, 1858-1958 (Sheffield Trades and Labour Council, 1958) Sidney Pollard, A History of Labour in Sheffield (Liverpool University Press, 1959) Also, William Hampton, Democracy and Community: A Study of Politics in Sheffield (Oxford University Press, 1970) has the composition of the council 1919-69 but it groups the councillors as Labour, 'Anti-Labour' and Others rather than listing Conservative / Liberal / Progressive / Citizen separately, which is a pity.
